Award Winning Shell Art

"We wanted to do something really creative and very different from what we normally do, so we entered a competition for fun," Karen Robertson said.

Robertson and Grott Shell Artist Frieda Jenkins collaborated on the design and execution of Vous revex d’un Jardin de Coquillage, or “Dreaming of a garden of Seashells.”

The intricate work was entered in the Northeast Florida Seashell Art Cometition and took two prizes.

Made entirely of seashells, the masterpiece even includes a working water fountain.

"The working fountain was a last minute addition, and it really put it over the top," Jenkins said.

To view the piece in action, visit Robertson and her team at the New York International Gift Fair, Pier 94 - Location #41006, August 18-21.

Jenkins left and Robertson right claim their awards.

The Adventures of a Shellatier™

Karen said shelling at Sanibel Island is her idea of the best vacation because she gets to learn so much about sea shells and experience actually searching for them herself and sorting them by species. She also loves creating original pieces with the collected shells when she gets back home to her studio.

Karen and her fiancĂ© and President of Karen Robertson Collection, John, spent four days on the island collecting rare and beautiful shells and meeting artists who use them to create intricate works of art.

Karen collected pounds of shells from the mounds that create the beach and island.

Cheers!

Our second show at High Point Market Week went better than we could have hoped for. We enjoyed seeing old friends, making new ones and hearing all of your wonderful feedback. Thank you so much to everyone who came out to see us, we owe it all to you and your business.

A special thanks also to all those who attended our party Monday night. We had fun sharing cupcakes, champagne and our knowledge on dynamic walls with you.

The demonstration by the lovely ladies from Casart was fabulous. Ashley, of Casart Coverings - our partner and provider of the Karen Robertson Collection line of removable, reusable wall coverings - demonstrated how quick and easy the product is to install (she did it in heels!).

John served as our handsome bar tender for the evening.

He filled our glasses with champagne alongside an adorable cupcake display
shaped like an anchor!

Karen scaled a ladder in her gown to grace us with her words of gratitude and a lecture on dynamic wall design.

Ashley transformed a blank wall into an interesting landscape for Karen's art.

Beauty surrounds us.

Over Presidents Day Weekend I went to The Villages, Fla. to see my grandmother and her sister, my Great Aunt Flo, who was visiting from Saratoga, NY.

While there, I made a visit to The Village's luxrious recreation center, Captiva, where Karen's work was recently placed by the Village's interior design group.

The center is beautifully done in a very-Florida beach theme.
